Frost Bitten!

So this past week the average temp. has been -30. It's even gotten as low as -42!! Needless to say its cold! So Cold that ice forms in the window and doors inside the house. It's so cold outside it freezes the condestaion on the inside!! Well while this cold spell was going on Howie had to go out in the "field" and pretend that he had ejected and surrvive for 2 nights out in the cold. They send him to school for a few days then let them out in the wild to put their skills to the test. He left Wednesday morning and I would see him Friday. Well Thursday I got call to come get him because he ended up with frost bite on his toe. He has been in a lot of pain and hoping it will go away soon. There isn't much you can do with frost bite except wait for it to go away on its own. Hopefully he won't have to hobble around to much longer.

Alaska Style Fun

Well the other day my car read -4 degrees and then it warmed up to a balmy -5! Apparently a warm front came through and it warmed up to 20 degrees. People were outside with no jackets. I don't know what Howie and I have gotten ourselves into!!! When the "warm"fronts do come through we get 2-4inches of snow in just a couple of hours. Howie isn't lucky enough to have a wife like everyone else who will shovel the drive way so he does the hard work. I do however shovel snow in the back yard so Ellie can go outside and go the restroom. It's hard to move when the snow comes up past your belly and your only 3 inches off the ground. None the less we bundle up (which is an ordeal in it's self and time consuming) to head outdoors for a few minutes. Kaysen loves it but I have to drag him in because his little face is beat red and I am always looking for an exscuse to go get warm.
Our friends the Cahill's have an ATV and we went sled ridding over at their home. Kaysen loved it but Mike and Howie are really the kids who had the most fun. We had to tell them it was time come in so we could leave and the looks on their faces were just like two little boys. So all in all we are surviving. It's dark here around 4:30 pm and light starts around 9 am. I miss the sun!!!

This was a warm day

After a long day of playing in the snow

I LOVE APPLES!!!!
