Fair, Fishing and Forest Fires

August brought more father and son fishing for Howie and Kaysen, which I loved watching them :) It was also the Fairbanks fair which was a good time to spend with friends and Kayen enjoyed all the festivities. Mom is currently trying to get a dad a rabbit for the family :) August also brought a forest fire that made our house smell like a fire pit. It was literary raining ashes outside.
Kaysen and I also were lucky enough to make a make a trip to Anchorage to see my best friend from College Mary Dorothy, her husband and two kids Quincy and Clara (or Carla). It was a great few days to catch up and get the kids together, although we some how didn't get one picture of the kids together! Oh well next time I guess :)

Fished out!

July was a fun month with a visit from my family and a trip to Ninilchick for some more halibut, yes you read right, more fish! The drive down was entertaining considering we were all crammed in the car for 6 hrs to Anchorage. Oddly enough no one wanted to sit next to Kaysen so I was granted that lucky seat! Kaysen was trooper and my family got to see Denali and what "real" Alaska looks like. We enjoyed their time here and Kaysen took full advantage of having Papa and Kane around to play with.
On the way to Ninilchick we stayed a night in Anchorage and Howie and the rest of our family got up extra early the next morning to try salmon fishing with our next door neighbor. I am sure glad I didn't go, but the stories were hilarious! Needless to say only Howie caught one messed up fish and everyone else headed back to the truck early because they were wet and cold within 5 minutes of getting to the river.
The boys took off the next morning to go Halibut fishing (which is EXHAUSTING!) and mom, Kaysen and I went to Homer to have a look around. Kaysen was bound and determined to throw every last rock into the water before we left. :)  It was great to have my family here and I hated seeing them leave, but was so grateful they got to come out to visit.
July also brought warmer weather so that meant pools and bathing suits with our little friends. It also means berry picking time! We went here on base and picked blueberries and raspberries  Now that being said, I did have a bucket of berries when we got in the car, by the time we got home the basket was empty and the only proof we had picked them was the pictures and the mess on Kaysen's face.

Good job Yea-yea!
