Snow and Trick-or-Treat

Well you guessed it, October hits and so does the snow. At about the end of Sept the snow came to visit and will be sticking around for a couple of months. Howie and I got a weekend escape from the snow to go to our friends Robyn and Chico's wedding in Vegas where we were also able to catch up with good friends that we knew when we were stationed at Shaw. Kaysen stayed with our wonderful neighbor Julia, or Jewa, if you say it like Kaysen does :).
We were back and in no time in all Howie left the following Friday for a Japan/ Australia trip so he only got to experience one trick-or-treat event. Because its so cold here, the base puts on quite a few things for the kids to go get candy on different days. Needless to say after 4 days of saying trick-or-treat Kaysen didn't understand why we weren't doing it the next couple of nights. He really enjoyed having a bucket full of candy and getting to play the games. He was hilarious in the haunted house, the "monster" came out and roared and the roared right back and when someone jumped out in front of me I kind of screamed and he just laughed at me :/. Guess my 2 1/2 year old is braver than me!
Even with the cold weather (already reaching -27) Kaysen LOVES to be outside. This year we have a 4-wheeler with a snow plow on the front and he will stay out there for hours if you let him. When I go out to shovel it by hand he is right there with me. Getting him to come in is a screaming mess so I now bribe him with hot chocolate which seems to be a hit!

Fair, Fishing and Forest Fires

August brought more father and son fishing for Howie and Kaysen, which I loved watching them :) It was also the Fairbanks fair which was a good time to spend with friends and Kayen enjoyed all the festivities. Mom is currently trying to get a dad a rabbit for the family :) August also brought a forest fire that made our house smell like a fire pit. It was literary raining ashes outside.
Kaysen and I also were lucky enough to make a make a trip to Anchorage to see my best friend from College Mary Dorothy, her husband and two kids Quincy and Clara (or Carla). It was a great few days to catch up and get the kids together, although we some how didn't get one picture of the kids together! Oh well next time I guess :)
