Leaving Sumter at 3:30 p.m. on August 20th was bittersweet. We were excited to start our new adventure but terribly sad to be leaving our first home and friends that we had made there. We knew we would still keep in touch but leaving such great people is always hard. We made it to Atlanta that night and wow...that was fun! Kaysen was refusing to sleep so Howie and I took turns standing in the dark in the bathroom with the dogs while the other one tried to get him to sleep. Then without fail at 5 am Boozer started flapping his ears over and over and then Kaysen woke up and our day started! We took off to New Orleans as our next destination. Because we got such an early start, we got there with plenty of time to explore. Yes, we were those parents with a baby on Bourbon street. The next morning Kaysen woke up early after a few hours of sleep and we WERE going to be on our way, but of course we couldn't just have an easy trip. Howie ended up getting stuck in the elevator at the hotel for 10 minutes and spilled orange juice all over the place. After that we were on our way. So we thought. Just as we were about to pull out of the only exit of the parking lot a girl driving a moving truck pulling a car got stuck in the exit. Howie being the nice guy that he is helped her out and an hour later we were finally on our way to Texas! Kaysen was a trooper and Baby Einstein played the whole way. He did sleep for 20 min, note the picture of him sleeping, we had to have proof. We got to Texas on the 22nd, my mom's 50th birthday and had a nice dinner with family and friends.
